Do it
- 1
Check the building
Ask your landlord which providers already have fibre in the building. The wrong choice = drilling = €100+ install.
- 2
Order online
Most providers have an English checkout. You’ll need NIF and IBAN. They’ll call to schedule.
- 3
Be home on install day
Window is usually 9–13 or 14–18. Bring your patience.
- 4
Cancel correctly when you leave
Cancellation = registered post to their address. Email or phone alone does not count. Keep the receipt.
Words you'll hear
Fidelizaçãofee-deh-lee-za-SAWNG
The loyalty lock-in on phone/internet contracts. Usually 24 months. 'Sem fidelização' = contract-free.
Common questions
How long until I'm actually online?
The contract takes minutes; the technician slot is the wait — typically 3 to 10 days, longer in old buildings that need fibre pulled in.
Can I avoid the 24-month lock-in?
Yes — every operator sells a "sem fidelização" option for a few euros more per month. Say it upfront; they won't offer it.
What if my building has no fibre?
Check coverage by address before signing anything. A 4G/5G home router is a legitimate stopgap — contract-free and same-day.
